A 19th century brass prismatic compass, Elliott London, green dial, Arabic numerals, the case inscribed Sir John W. Campbell Bt., 10cm long, leather case Provenance: Sir John William Campbell, 1st Baronet, CB (1836–1915) was a major-general in the British Army who served in the Crimean War in 1855, in the China campaign in 1860 and in the Second Anglo-Afghan War in 1879–80. He was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath in 1886.
