Yayoi Kusama (1929-2026) (after) - Pumpkin Yellow Naoshima Limited version

Yayoi Kusama Yellow Pumpkin - Naoshima Limited version Special edition reserved for Naoshima, presented in an exclusive box created especially for this version. It thus differs from the standard presentation of the Yellow Pumpkin sold in Japan. This edition is inspired by the iconic yellow pumpkin with black spots created by Yayoi Kusama for Naoshima Island, Japan. Debuted in 1994, this imposing sculpture was installed at the end of a pier facing the Seto Inland Sea. The term “Limited” applies to this Naoshima version and its specific packaging. It is not a numbered edition. The object is made of polystone/polyresin and features a finish close to ceramic. Each piece is handmade and hand-painted; notably, the black dots are applied individually. Producing a single piece takes about three days. Sculpture-object by Yayoi Kusama representing her emblematic yellow pumpkin with black spots, in the exclusive Naoshima island-related version. This piece reproduces in miniature the famous yellow Pumpkin installed by the sea in Naoshima, a work that has become one of the most recognizable symbols of the artist and of the island dedicated to contemporary art. Direct and fully documented provenance. The item was acquired directly from a museum shop in Japan. A complete provenance file accompanies the object, including order, payment and shipping documents that establish its acquisition history with precision. This documentation is an important element for the traceability of the object and for any potential resale in the future. The museum’s identity and all supporting documents are included in the provenance file provided to the buyer. Original Photos of the object for sale. Diameter: 7.5 cm / height: 9.5 cm Box | 13 cm (width) × 10.5 cm (height) × 12.5 cm (depth) Yayoi Kusama is a globally renowned Japanese avant-garde artist, equally a painter, sculptor, performer and novelist. From a young age, she developed an obsessive fascination with polka dots, nets and repetitive motifs, which have become the signature of her artistic universe. She extends these hypnotic forms across paintings, sculptures and installations, notably her famous pumpkins, flowers and immersive Infinity Rooms. A major figure in contemporary art, Kusama is part of a generation of artists who profoundly renewed visual culture, alongside Andy Warhol and Pop Art, Keith Haring with his instantly recognizable graphic language, or Ai Weiwei, whose work blends contemporary art and monumental installations. Her approach to color, repetition and objects also evokes Takashi Murakami, Jeff Koons, Niki de Saint Phalle or Louise Bourgeois. Thanks to her unique and instantly identifiable aesthetic, Yayoi Kusama is today one of the most iconic Japanese and contemporary artists on the international stage. #japanweek_art
