World. Set van 3 zilveren jubileumpenningen Pasar Malam Besar/Tong Tong

Set of 3 silver jubilee commemorative medallions Pasar Malam Besar/Tong Tong, The Hague (1978, 1983, 1988) — 126 grams, confirmed 800 silver Each medallion has its own theme on the front, linked to the anniversary year on the back: • 1978 (20th edition, Houtrust) — front: Borobudur temple, "Preserve Borobudur"; back: palm trees at sunset. Rim: "handmade by MD Silver Yogya" • 1983 (25th edition, quarter century, The Hague) — front: tree with root motif, "Preserve Nature"; back: naga/serpent motif with the number 25. Rim: "handmade by MD Silver Yogya" • 1988 (30th edition, Malieveld) — front: rhinoceros, "action Indonesia tong tong Netherlands — anti rhinoceros"; back: "Malieveld The Hague 1988". Rim: "MADE [maker's mark] 800 SMS" — manufactured by a different (Yogyakarta) workshop than the first two, with a clearly legible tested 800 fineness stamp Two of the three medallions were made by the renowned Yogyakarta workshop MD Silver (founded in 1936 by Moeljodihardjo). The third (1988) was produced by another workshop, presumably also Yogyakarta-based ("SMS"), with a sharply stamped 800 fineness — a direct confirmation of the silver content for the entire set, as the three medallions closely match in weight and workmanship. Weight: 126 grams total (approx. 42 g each) Diameter: about 5–6 cm each Silver content: 800‰, confirmed by stamped edge inscription Condition: excellent The Pasar Malam Besar BV went bankrupt in May 2024, marking a new chapter for this 65-year-old festival — these medallions are thus also a tangible part of Den Haag’s Indische culture history that has come to a close. Guide price: €250–350 for the set, based on confirmed 800‰ silver value (126 g × 0.80 × €1.42 ≈ €179) plus a collector’s premium for completeness, historical context, and the unusual double provenance (two workshops).
