Wooden mask - Kumu - DR Congo (No reserve price)

Wooden mask – Kumu – DRC This wooden mask is attributed to the artistic tradition of the Kumu, a people primarily settled in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, notably in the Ituri Forest region and around the Congo River basin. The masks hold an important place in Kumu ceremonial and ritual practices. Carved in wood, this mask is distinguished by its stylized shapes, its expressive volumes, and its characteristic treatment of facial features. By its graphic strength and its sculptural character, this piece naturally fits into a collection of African art or into a contemporary interior. It creates a harmonious dialogue between the Kumu artistic heritage and a contemporary aesthetic, while constituting a unique collectible item for African art enthusiasts.
