Tutte le aste / Argento & Oro / Wonderful Vintage Demi-Parure With Diamonds in White Gold, Around 1950
A pair of long earrings and a matching necklace make up this demi-parure. A long pendulum, richly set with diamonds, forms the center of each of the three pieces. In the center, sparkling brilliant cut diamonds are set in a long row, staggered in size. Around the ring, smaller diamonds accompany the central row in wide settings of white gold. This creates a teardrop shape that almost looks like lacework. The earrings have long hoops of yellow gold. The necklace has a chain with elongated elements in silver. Larger brilliant cut diamonds mediate between the pendant and the earwires and chain of the necklace. In total, the necklace contains around 10.70 ct of diamonds, mostly brilliant cut, but also 8/8 cut and old European cut. The shapes of the parure refer to turn-of-the-century jewellery, the so-called white jewels of the Belle Époque. However, the modern cuts of the diamonds show that the pieces were created in the years around 1950: In the period of reconstruction after the war, the elegant forms of the turn of the century were apparently still popular: and the jewels here were able to forget the privations of the intervening years in the process. The set has survived in a matching case of purple velvet. It bears within it the British Tudor crown, which was only used in Britain until 1952. This also helps to date the set to the years just before. Two independent certificates have confirmed the quality of the materials and will be delivered with the jewellery.
