Wine glass - Souvenir of the Party - Crystal - Special-occasion glass

Groot, a mouth-blown (wine) glass on a stem dating from circa 1900. It is made of clear glass with air bubbles and bears the engraved inscription "Souvenir de la Fête" (a keepsake of the celebration). Such glasses were given as a memento to guests at weddings. The glass is quite thick and in excellent condition, with no damage; the slight irregularities give it a certain charm. In the last photo you can see authentic production marks from the glassworks; these are not signs of wear or cracks. Within the antiques world these fine, rippled lines are often called "shear marks" or "straw marks". Collectors actually like this, because it tells the artisanal story of the glass. The glass features two half-flower garlands with leaves and is of French origin. It produces a beautiful tone, a singing sound, when tapped against the crystal.
