Provenance: Trustees of the Bishops Court Estate Their sale, Sotheby's, Old Master Drawings, Old Master Paintings, London, 6 March 1957, lot 63 Rayner MacConnal, London Condition Report: The panel is providing good support. Minor superficial scratches and scuffs. Small areas of retouching and infilling to the sky are visible in natural light. Inspection under UV suggests that there is possible further retouching scattered throughout. However the layer of unevenly applied discoloured varnish renders difficult a thorough examination. The image presents light surface dirt and would benefit from a clean.
