Wilde (Oscar) An Ideal Husband, first edition, limited edition, light spotting, more so to endpapers, Chart Lodge bookplate on front pastedown, ink ownership signature of Henry Ainley dated 30th August 1902 to front free endpaper, original salmon cloth, gilt decorations by Charles Shannon, slightly darkened, covers very slightly cockled, spine lightly faded, spine ends and corner tips a little rubbed, [Mason 385], 8vo, 1899. *** Henry Ainley [1879 - 1945) English actor and member of Herbert Beerbohm Tree's company. In 1902 he found fame as Paolo in Paolo and Francesca. Ainley was also a member of the council of RADA and served as its President from 1931-1933.
