WESTINGHOUSE - H-572T4 – RADIOSVEGLIA AMERICANA 1957 –...

Westinghouse H-572T4: when a clock radio seems to have stepped out of an American comic from the 1950s. Produced in the United States in 1957, this Westinghouse is a magnificent example of American Mid-Century / Atomic Age design, with an aesthetic that today looks almost irresistible. The rectangular shape, the large framed front, and the arrangement of the controls make it look like a small vintage television, but it is above all the clock face that immediately catches the eye: the large golden numbers, elongated and almost “comic,” arranged in a radial pattern, seem designed specifically for an American home in the 1950s. But the detail that makes it truly special is the color. A splendid original salmon pink, warm and incredibly cinematic. A variant already hard to encounter in the United States and decidedly unusual on the European market, where these devices almost never arrive in colors so distinctive. The combination of salmon pink, golden accents, and the champagne-colored dial gives it an exceptional decorative presence: it is one of those objects that do not need explanations to attract attention. A perfect piece for a collection dedicated to American radios, 1950s design, the Atomic Age, or Mid-Century Modern, but also simply for anyone seeking an antique item capable of instantly becoming the focal point of a space. Westinghouse. America, 1957. Salmon pink. It’s hard to walk past without stopping to look. Technical specifications: • Brand: Westinghouse • Model: H-572T4 • Made in: United States • Year of construction: 1957 • Waveband: Medium waves (MW) • Dimensions (W x H x D): 29.5 x 15.5 x 13 cm • Operating voltages: 117 Volts ⸻ CONDITIONS: Condition of preservation truly splendid considering almost seventy years of age, with the original device design, finishes and character beautifully preserved. The power cord, original to the period, is a bit stiff but intact. The photographs show in detail the conservation state of the clock radio and form an integral part of the description. OPERATION: The radio and clock turn on. It was not possible to verify reception of stations, as radio broadcasts in short, medium and long waves have been discontinued in Italy. Any reception of foreign stations or other signals may vary based on location and propagation conditions. INFORMATION NOTE: This is an original vintage device, offered as a collectible display piece, in keeping with its historical nature. Being a device made several decades ago, it has not undergone a full technical overhaul nor checks or updates according to current safety standards applicable to newly marketed products. Before any potential use connected to the electrical network, a safety check and securing by qualified personnel is recommended. Simply turning on the device does not attest to full functionality of all components nor to a verified electrical safety. We invite you to carefully read the description and view the images, which are an integral part of the listing. Happy bidding to all! :)
