This circular Wedgwood jasperware medallion was produced to commemorate the 1988 Australian Bicentennial. The piece is crafted in royal blue jasperware with a white bas-relief scene on the obverse. The scene, based on a 1788 design by Henry Webber, depicts four allegorical figures standing above the inscription ETRURIA 1789. The reverse features extensive gold-printed text detailing the history of the original medallion commissioned by Josiah Wedgwood, which was originally fashioned from clay sent from Sydney Cove in 1788. This example is identified as number 123 from a limited edition of 500. The reverse is further marked with impressed characters reading WEDGWOOD, MADE IN ENGLAND. A circular collector label for the RUBIN COLLECTION is present on the reverse. Dimensions: 0.25"H x 3.00" dia. Dimensions: 0.25"H x 3.00" dia. Weight: 1.90oz Condition Request Condition Report Good
