Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) was a groundbreaking Russian painter and art theorist, often recognized as one of the founders of abstract art in the early 20th century. Born in Moscow, Kandinsky spent his early career as a professor of law before moving to Munich to take painting lessons.
