Wall sconce - Gilt bronze

Stunning pair of antique gilded and chiselled bronze wall sconces, of very high decorative quality, in the Louis XV style, which I place in the middle of the 19th century, probably under Napoleon III, around 1850–1870. Each sconce features a particularly elegant and dynamic composition with two lights, richly adorned with foliage, acanthus leaves, volutes and rocaille motifs. The decorative elements are worked with a lot of relief and finesse, with a pleasant alternation between the gilded parts and the darker bronze patina. The old gilding is still well present in places, with an authentic patina. The traces and color variations visible are those of an antique piece and contribute to its character.
