Tutte le aste / Altro / Wall lamp - Cadmium- Selenium

Beautiful French Art Nouveau / early Art Deco wall lamp with fire-fluorescent cadmium glass rose shade – Brass/Bronze – France, circa 1920 An extremely charming and authentic vintage wall lamp in graceful Art Nouveau / early Art Deco style, presumably of French origin. The wall lamp features a heavy-quality cast brass or bronze backplate, beautifully decorated with a classic bow and garland motif. On the rear, the fixture is marked with the casting numbers/letters "MH 58". The fixture has over the years acquired a fantastically beautiful, authentically patinated surface that perfectly accentuates the historical details. Unique UV Fluorescence The absolute highlight of this lamp is the handmade glass shade in the shape of an open-bloomed rose or tulip. The glass transitions beautifully from a soft lemon-yellow color to a deeper amber- and orange-tinted edge. A remarkable collector’s detail: the glass reacts spectacularly under a UV flashlight (blacklight). Thanks to the historical inclusion of cadmium and selenium in the glass, the leaves illuminate under UV light with a breathtaking, fiery orange-red glow. This proves the early 20th-century authenticity of the glass. Wiring: Fully renewed. (equipped with a brown cord to match the antique look). Not observed as functioning. Glass: In excellent condition, no cracks, but with a rough edge/ fleabite on an amber petal. See last photo. Fitting: Suitable for a standard bayonet- or E-fitting (see photo for inside). Dimensions: See photos The lot is packed very carefully in bubble wrap and sturdy cardboard boxes, and insured shipping.
