Pair of vintage bronze cast medallions with miniature scenes on silk – Sir Thomas Lawrence ("The Red Boy", 1825) & Gallant Pastoral Scene Rococo (Watteau/Boucher style) Refined pair of oval decorative wall medallions dating from the second half of the 20th century (Neo-Rococo / Mid-Century style). The plaques feature an elaborate and solid external pierced bronze frame (weight a substantial 464 g), richly decorated with volutes, foliage motifs and shells. Inside the main frame there is a velvet background original to the piece (one in emerald green and the other in crimson red), which frames a central oval bronze medallion finely granulated. The subjects of the central medallions are high-quality reproductions stamped on fine silk, whose fiber gives a particular luster, tonal softness and a shimmering effect to the painted details: Detail of the Artistic Subjects: Medallion on Green Velvet: Title of the Work: The Red Boy (Master Charles William Lambton) Original Work Author: Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769–1830), celebrated British painter and President of the Royal Academy. The child is depicted absorbed in contemplation in a natural landscape, dressed in an iconic opulent red velvet outfit with a lace-collared, ornate shirt.
