Vintage White Gold Ring with Untreated Burma Ruby & Diamonds, c. 1975

A fiery red ruby weighing more than one carat occupies the center of this ring. Eight icy, sparkling brilliant-cut diamonds frame it to form a precious flower of gemstones. High-quality white gold holds each of the precious gemstones securely in place. The gemstones are arranged on different levels, creating a three-dimensional staggered effect. The ring is unusually precious. Around 1.20 ct of white brilliant-cut diamonds in very good color show perfect brilliance with very good clarity. The ruby in the center of the ring is of equally high quality: it comes from present-day Myanmar, the historical Burma, which has always been considered the best origin for rubies. Rubies from Burma, especially around the city of Mogok, are characterized by their intense, pink-red color and an appearance that is described as silky. The finest inclusions of rutile needles ensure a gentle diffusion of light in the stone. The stone has not been treated or heated. Its wonderful color and purity are solely the result of the forces of nature. To ensure that our ruby is indeed an untreated ruby from Burma, we have commissioned an appraisal to confirm the quality of the gemstone. We discovered the ring here in Berlin, where it was probably created.
