Tutte le aste / Tappeti, Tappezzerie & Tessuti / Vintage talking flags brooch in gold, Great Britain 1950s

On the high seas and in love, different rules sometimes apply than in the rest of life. Here it is captured, boarded and pursued, it storms and clears up: That this comparison was especially obvious in a seafaring nation like that of the British comes as no surprise to us, and so the brooch from the United Kingdom here brings these two so related and yet different worlds together with a wink. The brooch is designed as a small flagpole with nine flags flying from it. But what do they mean? The international flag alphabet, the language used by the crews of ships on the high seas to communicate with each other, is clear here. The row of flags can be read as "PRISCILLA"! The brooch may once have been a memento, worn as a token of love, a sign of attachment. Do you know a Priscilla who you could make happy with this brooch? The brooch was made in Great Britain, probably in the 1950s. We found it in London.
