“Tiffany! Cartier! Come on, Harry Winston, tell me all about it!” Like almost no other jeweler in the world, the name Cartier is synonymous with first-class jewellery. The house on the Place Vendôme became famous through the luxurious commissions placed by Edward VIII for his wife, Wallis Simpson, who commissioned such sensational pieces in Paris as the large flamingo brooch, which was auctioned at Sotheby’s some time ago. This Cartier ring was created in 1993, as revealed by a hallmark on its inside. It is set with 26 diamonds, 21 of which are coloured diamonds, all brilliant-cut. Among them are white stones as well as those in shades of blue, yellow, and brown, which, in their varying sizes, resemble cheerfully scattered confetti. The stones were apparently set into the ring at a later date, transforming what was originally a simple ring into a special, one-of-a-kind piece. We discovered the ring in the elegant Berlin neighborhood of Dahlem. It is signed on the inside of the ring band.
