Vintage Natural Ruby & Diamond Cluster Ring in White Gold, c. 1975

This vintage ring reminds us of this aria by Robert Stolz from the operetta ‘The Favourite’, as it was certainly once a gift of love. The centrally set natural ruby, weighing approx. 3.80 ct, impresses not only with its high purity but also with its rare purple colour, in which a soft blue blends into the red of the ruby. Small diamonds are set around the precious gemstone, all held in place by delicate white gold prongs. The compact ring head is set on a simple and sturdy ring band. In terms of jewellery history, this is also a special gemstone combination, as in the language of gemstones, the ruby was once regarded as the stone of love, while the diamond was seen as a symbol of eternity due to its great hardness. This is probably how a classic ring was created in the 1970s, which was perhaps once an engagement ring, but can certainly still serve as such today. We discovered the ring in Germany and commissioned a detailed appraisal that will be delivered with the ring.
