Vintage Cluster Ring With Untreated Burmese Ruby & Diamonds, c. 1975

A natural ruby of fantastic colour, sparkling with wonderful purplish-red reflections at every glance, is the center of this hand-forged ring, which found its way to us from Hamburg. Ten brilliant cut diamonds, each weighing a quarter carat, line the ruby and enrich the piece of jewellery with their sparkle. The ruby is a gemstone from the legendary mines of Burma. With a weight of about 2.30 carats, the stone impresses with rare clarity and radiance. The vast majority of rubies on the market today are chemically or thermally treated to intensify their colour or to improve their purity. Therefore, rubies that have neither been heat treated nor post treated are precious rarities and are often much more expensive than diamonds of the same size. Our ring presents such a precious "no heat" ruby from Burma. In European cultural history, the ruby has often been associated with passionate love whilst the diamonds, as the hardest minerals on earth, symbolize eternity. These hidden messages would make the ring a particularly suitable engagement ring as well. Two independent appraisals, including one on the origin of the stone, have confirmed the value of the Burma ruby and the other materials in the ring. They are delivered together with the ring.
