Vincent (XXI) - Ricordi mediterranei

This oil painting on canvas depicts an old, open gate overlooking a splendid sea view, a typical Mediterranean scene. The sun filters through the grapevine branches and creates a beautiful play of shadow and light on the door and on the floor. The painting is done with oil colors, laid on thickly to create relief both in the flowers, the wall, and the wooden gate, which appear weathered by time. The canvas measures 50x40 cm, is painted also on the sides and equipped with a hanging hook, ready to be hung; it ships complete with authenticity. Vincent loves to paint with strong color contrasts, loves the relief effects achieved with the use of a spatula.
