Vase - Brass - China - Chinese brass vases (No reserve price)

Beautiful pair of Chinese brass vases – early 20th century – hardwood coasters A distinctive and very decorative pair of Chinese brass vases, presumably dating from the early 20th century. The vases are richly decorated around the circumference with exquisite stylized and nearly abstract reliefs. Graceful birds, blooming branches, and organic shapes run around the brass. The strong lines and the raised relief give the vases a special sculptural and artistic appearance. The elegant baluster form, broad flaring neck, and characteristic twin handles enhance the authentic Asian character. The brass has developed a beautiful natural patina over the years, lending the vases extra atmosphere and character. At the bottom, both vases bear a striking Chinese seal/character marking. Particularly pleasing is that the pair is complete with the accompanying finely pierced hardwood coasters. The dark hardwood forms a wonderful contrast with the warm color of the brass and makes the whole very stylish. Dimensions per vase including coaster: • Height: approx. 23.5 cm • Diameter: approx. 11 cm Material: brass and hardwood Origin: China Dating: presumably early 20th century Notes: Chinese seal/character marking on the bottom The vases are in lovely vintage condition with light signs of age and use, appropriate to the presumed age. The hardwood coasters also show light signs of aging. A beautiful and characterful matched pair, with much presence and refined detailing. A real eye-catcher for enthusiasts of Asian art, antiques, and distinctive interior objects. Photos are part of the description.
