Tutte le aste / Altro / Vase - Amber Art Deco with feather relief

Rudolf Schrötter designed this motif of rising feathers from 1928 for the Bohemian glass factory of Josef Inwald. This amber vase of 23 centimeters speaks the same Art Deco language: narrow feathers with a herringbone grain, lightly twisted, on a nine-sided foot. The thick pressed glass keeps each relief sharp, and the light refracts in every vein. On the table the amber emits a warm glow, even on a gray day. Prefer not to wait? This piece is also available for direct purchase via Buy now. Description: A slender goblet that opens to a wavy, gently flaring rim. Across the body run narrow feathers upward, each with a central vein and V-shaped secondary veins. They stand slightly diagonally, so the vase appears to rotate. A smooth ring sets the body on the foot. The underside of the foot is divided into nine flat facets around a hollow core. The glass is amber-colored. At 23 centimeters the vase weighs 1,105 grams: the wall is about five millimeters thick, characteristic of well-pressed glass. The related Aiglon vases by Inwald appear in the Parisian catalog of H. Markhbeinn from 1933. About the maker: In Josef Inwald’s Rudolfshütte at Teplitz, Rudolf Schrötter designed modern Bohemian pressed glass from 1913. His feather series Aiglon was also offered in Paris. This vase speaks that same formal language. In the interior: On a south-facing windowsill the amber catches the afternoon sun and casts a honey-colored shadow of feathers on the table.
