Vase (2) - Gilt bronze

Exceptional pair of two monumental decorative porcelain vases, in the Sevres style, richly adorned with mounts in gilded bronze. With a remarkable height of about 136 cm each, these vases present an imposing architecture: an ovoid porcelain body, a high flared neck, a domed lid surmounted by a decorative bronze element, bronze handles featuring ram’s head motifs, a porcelain plinth, and a substantial gilded bronze base. The two pieces feature different and complementary polychrome decorations. One vase is adorned with an important figurative scene of gallant inspiration, surrounded by rich turquoise, floral, and gold decorative elements. The other features, notably, a pastoral landscape, also framed by gilded ornaments. The ensemble adopts the decorative vocabulary characteristic of the great French productions in the Louis XV / Louis XVI and Sevres style, with abundant gilding, Rocaille motifs, garlands, decorative trophies, and bronze elements. The substantial bronze mounts contribute to the monumental character of the set: handles, rings, surrounds, lid elements, and bases. This pair constitutes a particularly spectacular decorative ensemble, suitable for a grand residence, a townhouse, a hall, a gallery, or a major collection of decorative arts.
