A large Ecclesiastical history, in original full leather binding. Six raised bands with burgundy label and profuse gilt decoration to the spine. The gilt is still bright. The binding is in good, slightly rubbed condition. Internally clean and bright thoughout. A lovely copy. Many of the items have their own engraved title pages. A collection of the most important works by Henri Valois. Text in Latin. Henrici Valessi (Henri Valois) (1603-1677), was a 17th-century French philologist and scholar, known in classical and ecclesiastical circles as Henricus Valesius. He was not strictly a theologian in the sense of creating original theological works, but rather a scholar focused on classical and ecclesiastical history, editing and publishing ancient ecclesiastical historians and texts.
