Giove Rosso — Sculptural Vase (Edition 02/06) Black manganese and iron-red stoneware sculptural vase by Valentina Cojocaru. Part of the Giove collection, this piece draws inspiration from the turbulent atmospheres and mineral stratifications of Jupiter. Deep black tones are interrupted by iron-red currents that move across the surface like drifting planetary storms, sediment layers, or traces of molten earth suspended in motion. Entirely hand-built through a slow coiling technique, each vessel is created using reclaimed and repurposed stoneware clays from the studio. Black manganese clay and iron-rich red clay are manually blended, folded, compressed, and layered during the making process itself. The surface is then carefully carved and sanded by hand, revealing the inner material geography hidden within the clay body. No pattern can ever be repeated. Every gesture, pressure variation, and firing reaction leaves its own trace, allowing the material to compose its own visual language. The result is a tactile object that feels less manufactured than unearthed — somewhere between sculptural vessel, geological fragment, and planetary relic. Left completely raw and unglazed, the piece preserves its dry mineral skin and earthy tactility. The high chamotte content gives the surface a subtle granular vibration, reinforcing the sensation of sediment, dust, and compressed matter shaped slowly over time. Part of a limited edition of 6 pieces. Each piece is unique. Hand signed by the artist. A contemplative sculptural object for collectors and interiors seeking material depth, slow craftsmanship, and timeless presence. Not watertight.
