Unworn Ring With Pink Sapphire & Diamonds in White Gold, Created in

Sapphires can be more than just blue! Just like rubies, sapphires also belong to the corundum group. Since in mineralogy all corundum, with the exception of red ruby, is referred to as sapphire, yellow, green and orange sapphires are also found alongside the blue varieties. These stones, if they have a beautiful colour quality and good transparency, fetch high prices in the trade due to their rarity. Here we see such a gemstone set in a real classic in the field of jewellery. It is the so-called entourage ring, which effectively presents the coloured center stone. This ring shape is one of the most beautiful ways to vividly showcase a large coloured stone: Framed in a bed of ten white diamonds, the contrasting effect of radiant white enhances the rosy sparkle of a faceted natural sapphire to particular advantage. Since the 1960s, white gold has been a popular choice for this purpose, as it takes a back seat in terms of colour and allows the gemstones to come to the fore. This ring was also made to our order from high-carat white gold in a small manufactory in Italy. The natural pink sapphire weighs 1.70 ct. Ten brilliant cut diamonds, together weighing 1.05 ct, surround the center stone, held by simple white gold prongs. A gallery of white struts holds all the gemstones slightly above the finger, allowing plenty of light to reach them. The newly made ring comes with a detailed certificate from the German Association for Gemstone Evaluation Idar-Oberstein.
