Two Keith Murray for Wedgwood Creamware Weathercock Pattern Egg Cups

This lot consists of two cream-colored earthenware (creamware) egg cups designed by Keith Murray for Wedgwood, dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1935. Both pieces feature the Weathercock pattern, which consists of an orange transfer-printed design of a rooster standing on a directional vane marked with the cardinal letters E and W. The first cup is a footed form with a conical bowl resting on a spreading conical foot, accented with a hand-painted orange band at the base. The second cup is cylindrical in form with a stepped, engine-turned base featuring black-and-white horizontal ribbing created with colored slip. The underside of each cup is marked with the Wedgwood Made in England stamp and the KM monogram for designer Keith Murray. Several collector and inventory labels are present on the bases, including stickers for the Rubin Collection.
