~ TWO CURULE CHAIRS

A curule armchair in solid mahogany, moulded and carved. The X-shaped legs, decorated at the front with water leaves, are finished with twisted fluting. The armrests and the flat backrest are decorated with fillets. Stamped with the mark of Georges Jacob, who was granted master status in 1765, on the back of the rear upright. Late 18th century or early 19th century. Upholstered in black leather. Height: 107 cm – Width: 71 cm – Depth: 52 cm. (Damage, losses and restoration) Included is a curule armchair of a similar design and style. Height: 90 cm – Width: 59 cm – Depth: 54 cm. (Some damage and losses). - Swietenia mahagoni (II/B). Pre-Convention specimen.
