Beautiful fossil specimen of Platyscutellum sp., a trilobite belonging to the family Styginidae, preserved in its original rock matrix. Trilobites were marine arthropods that inhabited ancient seas for nearly 270 million years. They first appeared during the Cambrian Period and became extinct at the end of the Permian. Origin: Morocco Geological period: Middle Devonian Approximate age: 390 million years Classification: Trilobita – Styginidae Identification: Platyscutellum sp. An impressive collector’s fossil, ideal for display and for any natural-history or palaeontology collection. The specimen is sold exactly as shown in the photographs.
