Tutte le aste / Altro / Tomea Fiorenzo (1910-1960) - Il carnevale

Splendid oil on panel signed Tomea A nocturnal carnival scene is depicted, as evidenced by the title on the back and by the lanterns A framed, texture-rich work, well executed Tomea Fiorenzo (Zoppè di Cadore, 1910 - Milan, 1960) Fiorenzo Tomea was an Italian artist of the 20th century. Thanks to his acquaintance with the painter Masotto, he was directed toward the Academy of Fine Arts of Verona. He later went to Milan where he met artists such as Sassu, Cassinari, Cantatore and Messina, and the critic Edoardo Persico, who introduced him to works by Rosai, Carlo Carrà, metaphysical painting, Cézanne and Van Gogh. He subsequently stayed in Paris to study the Impressionists and met Italian artists who resided there, such as De Chirico, Severini, Guttuso, de Pisis. Afterwards he began to exhibit and participate in various exhibitions, up to the Venice Biennale of 1942. Tomea painted mainly skeletons, candles, masks, still lifes and a few landscapes, and his colors over the years became increasingly lighter and less dramatic, reflecting his acquired inner serenity. In 1943 he moved to Umbria, dedicating himself to religious painting and to the creation of mosaics and frescoes for churches. Later Tomea returned to his original subjects, simplifying colors and composition.
