Toby Paterson RS, A is an aw, ard-winning Scottish visual artist whose work explores architecture, the built, env, ironmen, t, a, nd the changing character of the city. He studied at Glasgow School of Art and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and over the past 25 years has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, , receivi, ng numerous awards including 2002 Beck's Futures Prize, a Creative Scotland Award in 2006 and, most recently, the 2025 RSA William Littlejohn Award. His practice spans painting, wall drawing and sculptural installation, often drawing on the ideas and forms associated with modernist and post-war architecture. Alongside his gallery work, he has developed an extensive public art practice, producing permanent, large-scale commissions for organisations including the BBC, UK Government, Transport for London, Islington, Counci, l, and the Municipality of The Hague.
