Timeless Déco Diamond Ring in White Gold and Platinum, c. 1930s

White jewellery was considered the ideal of the late 19th and early 20th century. The newly introduced electric light made diamonds shine with an unprecedented brilliance, while new precious metals such as platinum and later white gold further enhanced the brilliance of the white stones. This ring is also completely bathed in white light. The transverse ring face has a reduced geometric design. In the center sparkles a 0.11 ct diamond in a transitional cut, the direct predecessor of today's brilliant cut. It is held in place by a slightly raised square setting. To the right and left, four smaller octagonal-cut diamonds accompany the center stone and lend the ring additional vibrancy. Typical of the time, the ring face is platinum-plated, while the lower band and the shank of the ring are made of white gold. The ring is in excellent condition.
