This is a hand-knotted Oriental rug, made from durable, natural materials. The way it is knotted and the diversity in patterns make this rug a one-off and emphasize its authentic and artisanal character. It concerns an excellent used rug with an extremely long lifespan. This is a lightly used, cleaned rug that can be laid down as is. This beautiful Tibetan rug is hand-knotted circa 1960, with the finest unbleached wool sourced from sheep in the high Tibetan region. This wool is naturally extra fatty due to the cold temperatures (it works as insulation in sheep). When this wool is used in rugs it not only provides a beautiful, extra luster but also serves as a natural protective layer. Wool of better quality is (almost) not to be found. Natural color variations are visible, because the wool is NOT bleached prior to the first dye bath. This gives the rug an authentic appearance and contributes to the character of this rug that is full of stories.
