Thai bronze temple figure / deity – meditating –...

For sale is this exceptional and meticulously crafted Thai bronze figurine of a seated temple deity figure. The figure sits in a calm, meditative posture with crossed legs. Both hands lie one over the other in the lap. Especially noticeable are the tall, pointed Thai headpiece, the large side ear and jewelry elements, as well as the richly ornamented clothing. Face, chest jewelry, bracelets, robe and headpiece are adorned with numerous gold-colored highlighted details. The face bears a serene, almost closed gaze and finely worked contours. Very decorative is the combination of the dark bronze patina, the gold-colored areas and the pronounced greenish patina on the headpiece and in the area of the garment. It is precisely these differing surfaces that give the figure a distinctive character.
