Wilson T2000 racket, probably used by the player, 1970s. Match or tournament unknown. This racket has a Medium grip (L4 – 4 1/2"). Professional players’ rackets were frequently customised to achieve the desired diameter, weight and balance. It is therefore likely that Jimmy Connors used grips tailored to his preferences throughout his career, although the original grip size cannot always be determined for each of his rackets. This racket was donated by the player and comes from the personal collection of Michel Mattei, director, screenwriter and producer of the documentaries *The Rites of Passage: The John McEnroe Story* (1981) and *The Pat Cash Story: No Second Prize* (1987). A tennis enthusiast, over the course of several decades he has built up an exceptional collection of more than 1,500 rackets, thanks to his close ties with many of the sport’s legends, notably John McEnroe and Pat Cash.
