Rust Repairs, Minor Paper Damage. Chungking. Green, Sun Yat Sen at left, the reverse shows a Junk dollar at centre. The silver yuan notes were issued without a branch name and also with either the Canton or Chungking branch names. The 1, 5, and 10 Yuan, in different colours, were issued for all three, but the 100 Yuan was issued only for Chungking, and even then only specimens exist. A search on the PMG census reveals two pairs graded, and this is arguably the better pair, as both notes in the other pair are graded 62. PMG Comments "Rust Lightened" on the front specimen and "Rust Repairs, Minor Paper Damage" on the back specimen. The Silver Yuan notes were issued in 1949 following the hyperinflation of the Gold Yuan, with an exchange rate of 500 million Gold Yuan per 1 Silver Yuan. Estimate: $700 - $1,000. Provenance: From the Renaissance Collection of Central Bank of China. 民國三十八年中央銀行銀元券壹佰圓。單面正面及背面樣票。一對。重慶地名。綠色，左側為孫中山頭像，背面中央為船洋圖案。銀圓發行時分無地名、廣州地名及重慶地名三種。壹圓、伍圓及拾圓在三種地名中均有發行（顏色各異），但壹佰圓僅見重慶地名版，且僅以樣票形式存世。經查 PMG評級數據，目前僅有兩套對鈔入評，本品無疑品相更佳，另一套兩張皆評為 62分。PMG於正面樣票備註"鏽跡變淡"；背面樣票備註"修復鏽跡、紙身輕微有損"。銀元券於1949年在金圓券惡性通貨膨脹後發行，兌換率為伍億金圓券兌壹銀元券。 (t) This lot was manufactured in China (including Hong Kong), Russia or Republic of Belarus and was sourced from outside the United States for this auction after tariffs were enacted by the United States.
