T-43. Confederate Currency. 1862 $2. PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45 EPQ.

A Technical Exemplar Among Surviving T-43s T-43. Confederate Currency. 1862 $2. PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45 EPQ. No. 50520. Plate 4. Although readily encountered towards the middle of the condition spectrum. This short-lived design produced by Blanton Duncan circulated heavily and is today a rare sight in the company of light circulation and premium qualities as this individual specimen is an outlier among its peers and boasts an assigned grade of Choice Extremely Fine 45 EPQ assigned by PMG. Here bidders may observe with great appreciation the green underprint that the Confederate government was unwilling to pay for while design elements such as the portrait of Confederate Secretary of State Judah P. Benjamin and the allegorical representation of the South striking down the North at center help this note effortlessly defy the aesthetic and technical norm set by most surviving T-43s. Bidders should no doubt expect this note to provoke a competitive bidding process as exceptional Confederate notes are held tight by collectors and rarely traded. Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000.
