kira Ntswo Statue - Teke - DRC Zaire / Congo Large statue also called "Tkira - Nswo" or "Nkira Ntswo" originating from the Teké ethnic group in Zaire. Beautiful antique piece, richly decorated, with many charges. In this type of ancestral statuettes, the Teké associate two very different types of spirits, bearing respectively the names bapfu and bankir. The former are spirits of anonymous deceased; the latter are spirits of known and named ancestors. These spirits with protective or destructive powers are at the service of the owner or group of owners of the statue. At the heart of the mass of ingredients blended with resin, there is a piece of mirror. The hairstyle depicted resembles that of chiefs (ntswo e mpuu).
