STIEGLITZ (Alfred). — Camera Work. The Complete Photographs 1903–1917. Cologne, Taschen, 2013. Substantial in-8 volume, 552 pp., numerous photographic reproductions in black-and-white, sepia, and color; publisher’s binding with an illustrated photographic dust jacket. ISBN: 978-3-8365-4407-8. Text by Pamela Glasson Roberts, with French and German translations. Trilingual edition in English, French, and German. This 2013 Taschen edition is properly cataloged under this ISBN and has 552 pages. A comprehensive collection of material dedicated to *Camera Work*, the famous magazine founded and edited by Alfred Stieglitz, published in New York from 1903 to 1917. The book brings together the photographs published in the magazine’s 50 issues; the magazine was one of the main publications of the Photo-Secession movement and played a key role in establishing photography as a form of artistic expression. The illustrations allow readers to explore the works of the leading photographers published by Stieglitz: Edward Steichen, Alvin Langdon Coburn, Clarence H. White, Gertrude Käsebier, Frank Eugene, Frederick H. Evans, Paul Strand, as well as Stieglitz himself. The original photographs in *Camera Work* were particularly renowned for the exceptional quality of their photogravures; this volume constitutes a comprehensive anthology of those reproductions. Binding in good condition. Interior very fresh and clean. The dust jacket shows signs of wear, with scuffing and several small tears and missing pieces along the edges, particularly visible on the front cover and the top and bottom flaps.
