The 2023 vintage benefited from favorable weather conditions, allowing for a healthy and perfectly ripe harvest. This wine reflects the full potential of this remarkable year, combining balance, finesse, and expression of the terroir. The Domaine du Monteillet, renowned in the Rhône Valley for its elegant and balanced wines, emphasizes traditional viticulture and careful vinification in order to reveal the typical characteristics of its terroirs. Located in the northern Rhône, the vineyard benefits from a Mediterranean climate with continental influences and clay-limestone soils that are ideal for Syrah. Sustainable vine cultivation guarantees high-quality grapes in every vintage. Food and wine pairings: Saint-Joseph Cuvée du Papy is the perfect accompaniment to grilled or sauced red meats, game, duck, and mature cheeses. 2) Syrah à Papa 2024 Stéphane Montez’s Syrah à Papa charms with its ruby-red color and purplish highlights. The nose reveals notes of red fruit, pepper, and licorice. On the palate, it is powerful, dense, and tannic. Made exclusively from Syrah, the iconic grape variety of the northern Rhône Valley, this red wine perfectly expresses the Montez signature: a precise balance between crisp fruit, aromatic elegance, and mineral purity. The vines are rooted on steep granite slopes around Chavanay, in the heart of the Northern Rhône. The harvest, carried out entirely by hand, ensures the picking of perfectly ripe berries, essential for the Syrah’s refined and indulgent expression. Yves Cuilleron : 3) Saint-Joseph Les Pierres Sèches 2024 100% Syrah A blend from various plots that expresses the freshness and distinctive character of the terroir. The name of this cuvée pays homage to the dry-stone walls that dot the vineyards of the Northern Rhône Valley. The color is a purplish red that evokes power and freshness. The nose is crisp with juicy, tangy red fruits; notes of pepper evoke the typical character of Syrah. The palate is seductive and balanced, with the fruit expressing freshness and richness. A Saint-Joseph that is a pleasure to drink, whether enjoyed for its youthful aromas or as it ages from 5 years onward. Pair with a veal steak served with chanterelle mushrooms and sautéed new potatoes. 4) Syrah Les Vignes d'à Côté 2025 The Syrah from the Yves CUILLERON estate stands out for its brilliant red color. The nose is pleasant and aromatic, with notes of fresh red fruit. On the palate, these fresh red fruit flavors are present, accented by the Syrah’s spicy notes. Made from 100% Syrah, this wine is a blend from plots located on the edges of the crus within the Collines Rhodaniennes IGP, and is aged for eight months, split equally between barrels and tanks. Domaine Pierre Gaillard, located on the granite terraces of the northern Rhône Valley, practices meticulous and respectful viticulture.
