STEFANO DE CARLI | CONCEPTUAL MASTERPIECE AND AFFETTIVA ARCHAEOLOGY New Conceptual Path: "RIEMERSI: The register of matter" This work marks a monumental formal evolution within the cycle "RIEMERSI," pushing Stefano De Carli's plastic research toward a geometric synthesis with a strong architectural and minimalist flavor. The traditional paper support of the early book-sculptures is here replaced by a colossal white monolith in porous mineral composite: a solid faceted block characterized by a pronounced honeycomb texture and extreme structural lightness, functioning as a true metaphysical altar of memory. The Anatomy of the work and the Master’s gesture: On this aseptic, timeless stele, the artist embeds two authentic historic clay bricks originally from the Campanile di San Marco, resurfaced from the sea swells on the Lido di Venezia coast, just a few steps from the historic Liberty salon of Villa Jolanda (the artist's childhood home). The two centuries-old clay blocks are suspended in a millimetric tension, supported by two vertical polished brass pins that evoke the scaffolding of the reconstruction. The project is positioned within the Public History and Archaeology scientific program promoted by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the Ministry of Culture as part of the cultural project 'El Paron de Casa'. The session of November 7, 2021 (Slot 11:50 / 12:10) saw the approval of the investigation protocol for the ad hoc inspection. PROVENANCE AND EXTRAORDINARY INSTITUTIONAL PROTECTION: The plastic core of this work includes authentic historic bricks originating from the collapse of the Campanile di San Marco in Venice (July 14, 1902), resurfaced from the sea swells on the Lido coast, a few steps from Villa Jolanda. The full compliance of free possession is further sanctioned by the ministerial and academic scientific protocol, which formalized exemption from ordinary reporting obligations and lawfully authorized the conservation treatment of art and custody of cataloged artifacts.
