A very beautiful set of 19 issues of Journal de Spirou, covering a particularly interesting period in the history of the publication during World War II. The lot includes the final issues of 1943 preceding the interruption of regular publication, as well as the first issues of the revival in 1944. Issues of 1943: 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, 34 and 35. Issue no. 35, dated September 2, 1943, is the last regular issue published before the stoppage of publication. Issues of 1944: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. These issues belong to the very first weeks of the resumption of Journal de Spirou in autumn 1944. The set is therefore of particular interest: it allows one to follow the end of the 1943 publication and its revival in 1944, with a group of fascicles very close to this turning point. All issues have been checked and are complete. The overall condition is good, considering their age. The fascicles naturally show some light signs of wear, normal yellowing of the paper, and small marks related to time, but they remain well preserved, legible, and very presentable. The covers retain nice colors and the inner pages are well kept. A beautiful set for a collector of old Spirou, Belgian press, or documents related to the history of comics during the war. The photographs are an integral part of the description and allow precise appreciation of the condition of each copy. Carefully protected, shipped flat, with reinforced packaging.
