Spiny star snail: Astraea spec

An absolute jewel for lovers of geometrically spectacular deep-sea snails. This Astraea spec. It captivates with its flat, circular geometry and the striking, uprightly projecting spines along the whorls. With an excellent collector size of 39 mm, this piece perfectly captures the delicate, almost gear-like architecture of nature. The underside shows the typical, gracefully formed center of this rarely offered genus. Origin This authentic keepsake comes from the famous marine depths of Panglao, Bohol (Philippines).
