SOUTHERN AFRICA Flights connecting to the arrival of ships in Cape Town from England. Union Airways set up a weekly service to connect with the arrival of European mail. Postage was 1½d plus 4d air fee. The first north bound flights were on 26th Aug 1929. Three covers from GB all with UPU stamps, that were on these flights. Two to Bloemfontein, one to Durban. Also a first southbound flight cover, Durban to the UK posted 29th Aug to connect to the ship in Cape Town.
