Rare and elegant Murano glass pendant lamp, designed by Ettore Fantasia and Gino Poli and produced by the historic Italian company Sothis, in the 1960s and 1970s. A refined example of Italian Mid-Century Modern design, characterized by a sober and essential form and by the extraordinary quality of Murano glass craftsmanship. The diffuser is made of fine pulegoso glass, with a central lattimo motif. The particular workmanship enhances the purity of the spherical form with a hollow, producing a warm and pleasantly diffused light. The lamp is presented in excellent vintage condition. The glass is intact and shows no breaks or chips. The metal parts, original, show only slight signs of wear, consistent with the age of the object, visible in the photographs. The electrical system is original to the period, only the lamp holder has been replaced. It is set up for an E27 – 220V bulb. Also compatible with E26 bulbs for the American market – 110V.
