Inscribed by the author to the front free end paper. Dame Edith Louisa Sitwell (1887-1964) was the eldest of the three literary Sitwells. She became an advocate of innovative trends in English poetry, and befriended and helped many young writers. In this volume she studies the work of T. S. Eliot, William Butler Yeats, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Sacheverell Sitwell and Ezra Pound, with an overview of the contemporary poetry of the time and notes on innovations in prose.
