Sigma 30 mm F1.4 EX DC HSM Older EX version · Canon mount · Serial number 10986340 The present lens is the Sigma 30 mm F1.4 EX DC HSM from the first generation offered from 2005. It should not be confused with the later Sigma 30 mm F1.4 DC HSM in the Art series, which is optically and cosmetically designed differently. This unit carries the serial number 10986340 and has the Canon mount for APS-C SLR cameras. Its particular significance lies in the combination of a natural field of view and very high brightness. On Canon APS-C, the focal length corresponds to about 48 mm in full-frame terms due to the 1.6 crop factor. This makes it nearly ideal as a bright normal lens. exterior condition good to very good optical impression unobtrusive; no significant defects visible Originality high Accessories included good to very good Filter Lens hood Lens caps Sigma lens pouch Warranty documents Usability/value high Technical data and constructive classification Lens type bright prime / normal lens for APS-C Focal length 30 mm Maximum aperture f/1.4 Smallest aperture f/16 Optical construction 7 elements in 7 groups Aperture blades 8 Minimum focusing distance 0.40 m Maximum magnification approx. 1:10.4 Autofocus HSM ultrasonic motor; AF/MF switch Image stabilization no Filter thread 62 mm Dimensions approx. 76.6–77 × 59 mm Weight approx. 430 g Introduction 2005 Strengths • High brightness f/1.4 for interiors, dusk, and short shutter speeds. • Normal, unobtrusive field of view on Canon APS-C. • Noticeable subject separation at short to middle distances. • HSM drive for relatively fast and quiet autofocus. • Robust, typical EX-series construction of the time. Typical limitations When used wide open, performance is more centered on the image center. Edges and corners can appear noticeably softer; vignetting and color fringing are possible. Stopping down to about f/2 to f/2.8 generally improves contrast and uniformity significantly. This is not a defect of this specific exemplar, but corresponds to the typical performance profile of the design. Operational status - Optics flawless (no coatings or the like) Private ownership
