Sfeervol antiek haardscherm – vier panelen met...

Atmospheric antique fireplace screen – four panels with dragon ornament – circa 1890–1920 An impressive framing for the fireplace. This richly decorated fireplace screen combines four hinged panels with fine metal mesh and a warm gold-brown metal finish. The dark patina accentuates the relief and gives the piece a characterful, well-worn appearance. Particularly notable are the two winged dragons placed opposite each panel. Their scaled bodies, curled tails and spread wings form a fine crown around a central ring ornament. Beaded upper edges, twisted cord motifs and small claw feet complete the design. The imaginative animal motifs recall the historicizing interior art of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. In that period, fireplace accessories were both functional objects and decorative components of interior design. Practical yet highly decorative The four panels are connected with hinges, allowing the screen to be positioned in different angles and compactly folded. The mesh largely leaves the fire visible. This type of screen was used to contain wandering sparks. Even as a decorative focal point for an unused fireplace, it shines: a atmospheric accent for a classic, country, or eclectic interior.
