Sextant - Brass

Old brass maritime navigation sextant, signed “HENRY BARROW & Co LONDON,” a London-based manufacturer of scientific and navigation instruments in the 19th century. The instrument is equipped with a telescopic sight, a wide graduated arc with a precision reading system, mirrors, and several colored optical filters. English manufacture, London, 19th century. Estimated dating: around 1850-1870. Iconic piece of scientific and optical instrumentation, highly sought after by enthusiasts of ancient navigation, vintage maritime, scientific curiosities, industrial design, steampunk, and high-end marine decoration. Ideal for collection, display cabinet, cabinet of curiosities, or nautical decoration. ( compass, compass, dry compass, marine chronometer, spyglass, telescope ) Good overall condition with natural brass patina and time-worn traces. A rare, authentic, collectible item with timeless charm.
