Sergio Romero (Spain, 1978) is a self-taught visual artist whose practice since 2020 has revolved around abstraction, symbolism, and the exploration of perception. His work arises from an intuitive and experimental process in which gesture, color, and geometry combine to build compositions of an energetic and contemplative character. One of the recurring elements of his visual language is the golden ratio and the Fibonacci sequence, used as compositional structures that allow him to organize space and establish relationships of balance between the different shapes and color fields. These geometries coexist with processes close to automatic writing, where the artist lets the development of the work progressively determine its outcome. His creative universe is influenced by meditation, perception, Hermetic philosophy, and personal research into concepts such as energy, vibration, and consciousness. These references do not aim to represent a concrete reality, but to generate visual spaces open to the spectator’s interpretation. Romero works mainly with acrylic on canvas, although he also incorporates mixed media and different materials that allow him to explore transparencies, layers, textures, and chromatic contrasts. His works are characterized by a combination of structure and spontaneity: a geometric base that dialogues with free gestures and intuitive decisions. Since the beginning of his career he has maintained a constant production and has participated in national and international exhibitions and artistic projects. His work has appeared on platforms and spaces related to the contemporary art market, including Catawiki, as well as various galleries, fairs, and exhibitions in cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Venice, Berlin, Zurich, Paris, Athens, Palma, and Dubai. His artistic production is particularly linked to collecting contemporary works and to the creation of unique pieces in which each composition represents an independent investigation into color, form, balance, and perception. He continues to develop his artistic practice from Spain, expanding his abstract series and exploring new possibilities between geometry, matter, gesture, and symbolism.
